In addition to exhibitions and international loans, the foundation has contributed to academic research in collaboration with the Mandelstam Society in Oxford, the University of Southern California, the University of Petersburg, and the Russian Avant-Garde Foundation. This cooperation has resulted in publications such as A Legacy Regained: Nikolai Khardzhiev and the Russian Avant-Garde (400 pages, richly illustrated with works from the collection and archive, edited by John E. Bowlt and Mark Konecny, under the supervision of Evgeniia Petrova and Joseph Kiblitsky, published by Palace Editions, Petersburg, 2002), released under the auspices of the State Russian Museum in Petersburg. Research on the collection also led to the 2017 discovery of a previously unknown Malevich drawing tucked between the pages of a book written by Khardzhiev about the artist Pavel Fedotov.

Archive of N. Khardzhiev. Russian Avant-Garde: Materials and Documents from RGALI Collection (Anthology of 20th Century Art History series).
Since 2017, RGALI and In Artibus have been publishing an almost annual four-volume series featuring scholarly analyses of different sections of the Khardzhiev archive. The fourth volume is scheduled for late 2024.

Rakurs is a platform for reinterpreting and deconstructing power structures within museum collections and archives. It serves as a space for exploring, developing, and reimagining the concepts, terminology, and ideas of historical avant-garde movements originating in imperial Russia and the Soviet Union. It also functions as an observatory for examining existing museum collections through the lens of critiques of cultural imperialism. Initiated by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven, and the University of Amsterdam, Rakurs is a short-term research program that charts new pathways for communication and knowledge-sharing through original, conceptual, and collaborative partnerships between cultural institutions.
